Katie Lemieux was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario. She got her first degree in graphic and web design at Confederation College and was accepted into an internship with EMI Music Canada in Toronto (now Universal) doing graphics for musical groups like the Barenaked Ladies, Snoop Dog and Norah Jones. After returning home, Katie went back to school and obtained her HBFA at Lakehead University with specialization in ceramic sculpture. Once graduated, Katie was able to travel with her work to China, where she completed a 6 week residency at the renowned Jingdhezhen Facility in the province of Sanbao. She was later accepted into a show in Croatia, EU, where she met the head of the Graduate program at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Katie was accepted into the Peck School of the Arts three-year Graduate program in Wisconsin, Milwaukee, USA with a full scholarship. Katie completed her thesis exhibition and graduated with her Masters in 2019.
Since her Masters, Katie has moved back home to Thunder Bay and works as an artist, ceramic and sculpture technician for the local University, and as a Personal Support Worker with young adults. Her social work continues to drive her artistic narrative as she works in her at home studio, showcasing her work in local galleries and internationally. She is represented by Yellow Bird Art Gallery in Grand Marais, USA, and the Thunder Bay Art Gallery in Thunder Bay, CA.
